Squint hard enough and one could make a compelling case that Harold Ramis's Groundhog Day offers a lot more horror than romance to its viewers. But what if a filmmaker decided to take that time loop presence and really push the horror elements? In this episode of the podcast, the Certified Forgotten team is joined by Meagan Norman, Events Coordinator with Crypticon Seattle, to discuss the philosophical splatter of Madellaine Paxson's Blood Punch.

After getting popped for selling crystal meth, Milton (Milo Cawthorne) figures his life is over. That is, until he’s rescued from his halfway home by Skyler (Olivia Tennet), a Lacey Chabert-esque femme fatale who has a proposition for him: help her and her crooked-cop boyfriend cook 85 pounds of meth in 24 hours, and Milton will never have to worry about money again. But when things go wrong, Milton and Skyler realize there is more to life than money – and less to death than forever. Take it all together, and Blood Punch is a horror-comedy that is unquestionably Groundhog Day for the grindhouse crowd.

In this short excerpt from the episode, Norman explains how she navigates the expectations of life-long horror fans as someone who is relatively new to the genre:

"I always try to avoid watching trailers for movies before I jump into it, because a lot of times, it just gives away more than you really want a trailer to give away. So I'm going to go in blind, I'm not going to read a bunch about it. I might have somebody's opinion in the back of my mind while watching it, but for the most part, if it's a movie that a lot of people love and I'm just not digging it, I'm just not digging it."
